I was enjoying a nice online game of Red Dead Redemption in free roam mode earlier today. My Posse consisted of myself and two kids, one American and the other English. Another Posse populated with American’s in their late teens decided to start attacking us constantly and because they’re in close proximity it opens up Voice Comms. The English person in my team decided to start arguing with them.
Thankfully due to my many years of online gaming experience – I know exactly what not to mention. And this person managed to tick all of the boxes for a mega facepalm from me.
Do NOT do the following:
- Mention wars
- Mention how many more wars England have won in comparison to the US
- Mention how the SAS is THE best army in the world (they’re good, but they’re one of the best armies in the world, not THE best army.
- And to top it off, tell the Americans the Navy Seals are shit.
Just a quick one

I’m currently sitting here waiting for my Windows Media Center 7 setup to complete and thought I’d do a quick little update about what’s been going on recently.
In all honesty, not a lot. I’ve had the last three days off of work because it was my Birthday on Wednesday. I’ve been mainly chilling here and playing a load of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I’ve also got a PC Wireless Receive for my XBox 360 controllers (courtesy of Errkal), so I can now finally play the copy of DIRT2 that came with my graphics card late last year.
I’m enjoying this game so far, I prefer the Rally and Rallycross sections over the big truck thingos (I can’t think for the life of me what they’re called!) Of course, the game is not without its flaws. The two main issues I have so far is the navigator in the Rallies is a bit slow to let you know about crucial details. A nice example of this is *SMASH!* hairpin to the left, take it slow… YOU THINK?! Also, the rewind function is pretty useless in comparison to Forza 3′s. In Forza you can rewind to a comfortable distance before your crash, but in DIRT2 I find myself only being able to rewind to half way through my crash. Pretty lame.
Ooh! I’ve also got Red Dead Redemption, I haven’t played it yet but expect to hear more about my Wild West shenanigans here shortly.
Whenever I do web design bits and bobs I always check to see how how the site looks in various browsers. Firefox is my browser of choice and the new version of this blog looks fine, however it does look a bit dodgy in Internet Explorer 8 and this is even under compatibility view.
I will not be messing around making sure this site displays correctly in Internet Explorer, web standards have changed quite a bit in the last decade and it’s about time Microsoft caught up. If you’re viewing this site in Internet Explorer, I would suggest you switch to one of the following browsers:
I finally did it

I’ve been meaning to introduce my layout to the blog since just after I started it up and now I’ve finally accomplished it. Granted, it was an extremely lazy move from me! What you’re seeing here is the modified layout for my old Total Gamer website, which has been tweaked to suit Word Press. It’s not bad, it’s functional and that’s all that really matters.
I’ll be making further changes over the coming days as there are a few more bits I want to change here and there.
A hint of hope?

After a gruelling two weeks of wondering whether Super Mario Galaxy 2 would eventually turn up I have now sent my claim form back to GAME (via email, I ain’t no snail mail sucka). If everything goes to plan I should be able to sit back and relax with my new copy of the fat plumber’s adventure dropping onto my doormat sometime next week. WHO AM I TRYING TO KID? The Royal Mail will probably lose that copy as well!
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was released on Friday 11th June, and while many kiddies and adults are enjoying the fat little plumber’s latest adventure I’m still going without. Yup, despite the game being dispatched LAST TUESDAY, I’m still Super Mario Galaxy 2-less. Bunch of bastards, I expect my copy to be here on launch day dammit!
During a versus game of Left 4 Dead 2 this evening I went on a tank rampage (I normally suck with tank) and managed to knock three people down. While I was going for the fourth the following came up on the screen.
Sarge : GET ROCHELLE
Hammy : fuck off u cheeser
Thermidor : gj
Cheeser? That is an AWESOME insult! Oh and later on in the game the following little exchange happened:
[TSE]Great_Kahn (Boost) : there is nowhere to fucking spawn
[TSE]Great_Kahn (Boost) : has this server been modded
[TSE]Great_Kahn (Boost) : ?? cant get far enough away to spawn
[TSE]Great_Kahn (Boost) : bullshit modded server tbh
PeeJay : nope, spawn blocking
[TSE]Great_Kahn (Boost) : are you a faggot
PeeJay : no, are you?
As could be expected, he ragequitted shortly afterwards. Not before shooting up his own team first though. >_<
This week’s Left 4 Dead 2 Mutation is campaign-based and involves the four survivors tossing aside their guns in favour of chainsaws with infinite juice. Is it any good? (more…)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is easily one of my most anticipated titles of the year, and to ensure I get a better experience I have finally bought a component cable for the Wii. I got my HDTV around the same time as New Super Mario Bros Wii and the picture was a little bit on the blurry side. The cable won’t make the game HD, but it’ll help make the new galaxies look lurvely.
I did a test just now with New Super Mario Bros Wii and it is looking much better. The image is not quite so blurred but it helped bring out the jaggies. Not a good thing but then again, I probably shouldn’t be sitting as close to the screen as I do!
All in all it seems to be a worthwhile purchase, and with Mario’s latest adventure releasing in a week’s time I’m definitely ready. Thank god the cable only cost me six quid instead of Nintendo’s asking price of £17.99.
… now I’ve said that, the cable will probably randomly catch on fire.
