It was all going so well!
The bridge pickup sounded awesome, too bad I managed to accidentally read the wrong diagram. I wired up my bridge pickup to the instructions of the neck pickup. At first I shrugged it off and stupidly continued wiring the other way round only to find that when I switched on my amp it sounded like it was underwater. Much to my dismay I undid everything and wired it to the diagram’s specifications, after three quarters of an hour everything is now where it should be, it should work fine now, yes? WRONG!
Only two positions on the five-way pickup selector actually work now. One is too trebly and the other seems to be devoid of the beautiful tone I experienced earlier. Neither I would use. Ever! I have checked the wiring and it all appears to be fine, but what do I know? I’m a newbie to this! Which is why I’m going to call it a night, tomorrow evening I intend on undoing the wiring to see if I can get it working how it should. In the meantime I will do my research and see if I can find any info from other people who may have had the same problem.
But if it doesn’t work? It’s getting incredibly tempting to just say “fuck it, I’ll buy a new one!” but I really don’t want to this, which is why I’m seriously considering just wiring the one pickup so I can have my beloved chosen position back. It sounds stupid but I’ve had this guitar for three years and I’ve never used anything besides this particular position and I don’t intend to change now!
