I thought I’d use my last blog entry of November to show the state of the snow that is outside, it doesn’t look too extreme but its only just started. Even if the road does clear, my usual bus won’t be going past as one of the narrow roads it goes down has a fair bit of tree cover and is also prone to icing up big time.

Oh well, tomorrow should be fun. Here’s to the uphill walk on ice!

At the start of the year I was genuinely looking forward to the Nightmare on Elm Street Remake. So much so that I curious enough about the retelling of the original story that I was at one point considering venturing into the cinema to see it. Unfortunately as the release drew nearer I became a bit shallow minded and took into account the reviews from the movie press along with the diehard Freddy fans, which killed my enthusiasm for the movie and therefore I never saw it in the end.

Dear future PJ,

In November 2011 another Call of Duty title will roll off the end of Activision’s conveyor belt, it is imperative that you do not buy this game for the sake of your wallet and your sanity. It’s going to be a hard road, but you must resist all temptation. The marketing will be immense as always, developers will promise a better all around experience and greater balance and reviewers will agree with them (at what price?).

Ever since I got my copy of F1 2010 on Steam back in late September I have experienced a strange issue with my keyboard where it would disconnect and re-connect mid-race causing a lock up of upwards of around ten seconds. Sometimes depending on how it was feeling it wouldn’t re-connect therefore giving me the inconvenience of an unwanted reboot. Needless to say after putting up with this issue for a week or two it put me off the single player, and I never bothered with multiplayer. How could I possibly be competitive with random ten second lapses in play occurring?

Well I finally found out what the issue was, it turns out that a lot of motherboards have the option EHCI Handoff ENABLED. After disabling this I am now able to play F1 2010 uninterrupted, so as you can understand I’m playing online a lot more these days.

Brace yourself for a number of rants over the coming weeks about the number of laps I invalidate before setting a lap time in the time trial mode!
